Sources have reported that NeNe Leakes, one of the stars of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, is moving forward with divorcing her husband of 14 years. A recent report from RadarOnline said that Leakes had hired a divorce attorney. Leakes’ husband is seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars out of the divorce.
Leakes’ husband is a successful businessman. The couple met while Leakes was working as a stripper in Atlanta. Her husband claims that he spent $300,000 on Leakes to help make her a star.
Now Leakes has made a fortune from her Real Housewives stardom, and her husband believes that he deserves his “investment” back in the divorce. Without his money, Leakes would never have become a success in show business, he argued in the RadarOnline report. For her part, Leakes does not want to take on any of her husband’s debt. These financial disagreements could lead to a long, drawn-out divorce.
According to the RadarOnline report, Leakes, 42, and her husband have lived separately for some time. For example, she sleeps in the family house with the couple’s two children when the husband is not around. When he comes to the home, she goes to an apartment to spend the night.
The couple disagrees about how to raise their two sons. One son was arrested for marijuana possession in March. The husband reportedly believes that the son is once again running with a bad crowd and needs more supervision, but Leakes disagrees.
