Report: Unsurprisingly, Hugh Hefner ties knot with prenup intact

If Crystal Harris wanted to have a bit of notoriety attached to her marriage, mission accomplished.

For starters, Harris, 26, married a man 60 years her senior in California on New Year’s Day. Second, her husband is decidedly wealthy, with multiple and lavish homes and an estimated personal net worth of scores of millions of dollars.

Oh, and his name’s Hugh Hefner.

The couple finally tied the knot — Harris for the first time, Hef for the third — after an initially scheduled attempt to do so in 2011 went south following apparent disagreement over personal matters.

“The wedding is off. Crystal has had a change of heart,” Hefner tweeted (octogenarians, too, tweet) following the cancellation the first time around.

Harris apparently had a second change of heart last week, and Hefner stresses optimism going forward.

“If you’re in good health, age is just a number,” he said.

As many people would expect, talk of a prenuptial agreement surfaced immediately following the nuptials, and multiple sources report that the couple indeed executed a premarital contract prior to their wedding ceremony.

At Hefner’s age, and given California’s community property regime (a minority stance and contrasting to the equitable property division scheme operative in Georgia and a clear majority of other states), it seems to make perfect sense that such an agreement would be executed. Without one, California law stipulates that all assets not designated separate and personal property going into a marriage, and all assets accumulated during a marriage, are split down the middle between a couple.
